“How can we hope to restore communion in our relationships if any one of us cannot or will not be heard?”
Anglican Mainstream, a blog focused on the work of the Anglican Communion around the world, reported that Archbishop Fred Hiltz, primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, has allied himself with the U.S. Episcopal Church in a dispute with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Archbishop Hiltz said the action of the Archbishop of Canterbury “reflects principles of exclusion with which many in the Communion are very uneasy.”
In his announcement of the sanctions against the American church, Canada was singled out for its support of same sex blessings. Archbishop Hilz said neither the House of Bishops nor the General Synod of the Canadian Church had taken a formal position so he did not expect the sanctions to extend to Canada. But he left no doubt about where he stands on the issue.
